The highway of life

The highway of life

THE HIGHWAY OF LIFE

hello my gentle readers ,

Firstly let me start by apologizing for the slow coming of my blogs, these past 2 weeks have been incredibly taxing emotionally and mentally for me however lm back and ready to write again ,so here we go hope you enjoy reading this one....

When Forgiveness Makes Room for Everything to Fall Into Place

There is something about a highway that reminds us of life.

Some roads are smooth. Some are full of potholes. There are unexpected detours, roadblocks, accidents, breakdowns and moments when you simply have no idea where the road is taking you.

Yet… you keep driving.

Life is much the same.

There are seasons when everything seems to be moving forward beautifully, and there are seasons when you find yourself sitting on the side of the road wondering, “How did I get here?”

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the journey itself.

It’s learning how to leave the things that happened behind you without allowing them to determine where you are going.

FORGIVENESS IS A TURNING POINT

Forgiveness doesn’t mean what happened was okay.

It doesn’t mean you weren’t hurt.

It doesn’t mean you have to forget.

And it certainly doesn’t mean allowing someone who hurt you to continue having access to you.

Sometimes forgiveness simply means saying:

“I refuse to carry this pain into the next chapter of my life.”

There comes a point on the highway of life when you have to stop looking in the rear-view mirror.

The rear-view mirror has its purpose. It helps you remember where you’ve come from and allows you to check what’s behind you.

But imagine trying to drive an entire journey while staring backwards.

You wouldn’t get very far.

The same is true in life.

You can acknowledge your past without living in it.

You can remember what happened without allowing it to become your identity.

You can forgive without returning to the same environment.

You can heal without pretending you were never wounded.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

 Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)

Forgiveness releases something.

Sometimes it releases the person who hurt you.

But often, it releases you.

WHEN YOU FINALLY PUT THE WEIGHT DOWN

There are things we carry for years.

Words someone spoke over us.

The rejection we experienced.

The parent who wasn’t there.

The relationship that broke us.

The betrayal we never understood.

The childhood we wish had been different.

The mistakes we made ourselves.

The opportunities we lost.

And sometimes we become so accustomed to carrying these things that we don’t even realise how heavy they have become.

But God never intended for your past to become a permanent backpack.

There is a moment when you have to say:

“God, I give this to You.”

Not because it didn’t matter.

But because my future matters too.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

What would happen if you stopped carrying what God has asked you to release?

What would happen if you allowed yourself to breathe again?

What would happen if you stopped expecting tomorrow to look like yesterday?

Perhaps you would discover that there is still so much road ahead.

GOD CAN MAKE THE CROOKED ROAD STRAIGHT

Sometimes we look at our lives and think, “This isn’t how I imagined it.”

Maybe the marriage didn’t happen when you thought it would.

Maybe motherhood looked different from what you imagined.

Maybe your career took a completely different direction.

Maybe you lost people you thought would always be there.

Maybe you had to start again.

But a detour isn’t necessarily a dead end.

Sometimes God uses roads we never would have chosen to take us somewhere we never imagined going.

“I will make the crooked roads straight and the rough ways smooth.”

 Isaiah 42:16 (NIV)

There may have been seasons where you couldn’t understand what God was doing.

But just because you couldn’t see the destination didn’t mean He had abandoned you on the journey.

THEN SOMETHING CHANGES…

One day, after years of healing, forgiving, crying, praying and rebuilding, you wake up and realise:

You’re not the same person anymore.

The things that used to trigger you don’t have the same power.

The conversations that once consumed you no longer control your day.

You don’t need everyone to understand your story anymore.

You don’t need an apology to move forward.

You don’t need permission to become who God created you to be.

And suddenly, you begin to see things differently.

Your relationships begin to change.

Your confidence begins to return.

Your dreams begin to breathe again.

Your children experience a healthier version of you.

You begin making decisions from healing rather than hurt.

And slowly…

things begin falling into goodly places.

“The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.”

Psalm 16:6 (NIV)

What a beautiful picture.

Not everything around you has to be perfect for your life to be moving into a better place.

Sometimes the blessing is simply recognising:

“I am no longer where I used to be.”

DON’T RUSH THE JOURNEY

Highways have speed limits for a reason.

Your healing does too.

You don’t have to rush into the next season because someone else appears to be ahead of you.

You don’t have to compare your chapter 5 to someone else’s chapter 20.

You don’t have to force relationships, opportunities or doors that God hasn’t opened.

There is a difference between waiting and being stuck.

Waiting can be preparation.

Sometimes God is working on the road ahead while He is working on the person travelling it.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)

You may not understand every turn.

Drive anyway.

You may not see what is waiting around the corner.

Keep going.

You may have to take a different exit than you expected.

Keep trusting.

YOUR STORY DOESN’T END AT THE PLACE THAT HURT YOU

Mama, perhaps you’ve been through a season that made you question yourself.

Perhaps you’ve had to forgive someone you never thought you could forgive.

Perhaps you’ve had to forgive yourself.

Perhaps you’ve spent years trying to understand why certain things happened.

But hear this:

Your story is bigger than what happened to you.

The pain may be part of your story.

It doesn’t have to be the ending.

The rejection may be part of your story.

It doesn’t have to be your identity.

The brokenness may be part of your story.

It doesn’t have to determine what you build.

And the road behind you may explain some things about you.

But it does not get to decide where you are going.

KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD

There will still be difficult days.

There will still be unexpected turns.

There will still be moments when you question whether you’re going in the right direction.

But perhaps the lesson isn’t to find a highway without obstacles.

Perhaps the lesson is to become strong enough, healed enough and anchored enough in God to keep travelling when the road becomes difficult.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”

 Isaiah 43:18–19 (NIV)

God is still doing new things.

New relationships.

New opportunities.

New dreams.

New confidence.

New generations.

New beginnings.

And sometimes the greatest evidence of healing isn’t that your past disappeared.

It’s that your past no longer controls your future.

THERE IS STILL ROAD AHEAD

So, if you’re somewhere on the highway of life today, don’t give up.

If you’ve had to pull over, rest.

If you’ve taken a wrong turn, recalibrate.

If you’ve been hurt, heal.

If you’ve been carrying resentment, begin the journey of forgiveness.

If you’ve lost your way, ask God for direction.

And when the road opens up again…

Drive.

Drive with wisdom.

Drive with faith.

Drive with purpose.

Drive knowing that you don’t have to understand every mile to trust the One who already knows the destination.

Because sometimes, after all the tears, all the healing, all the forgiveness and all the rebuilding…

you look around and realise:

God was preparing you for a place where everything could finally fall into goodly places.

And perhaps this is your season to stop looking behind you.

The road ahead is calling.

A MOMMA NATION REMINDER

You are allowed to heal.

You are allowed to forgive.

You are allowed to start again.

You are allowed to protect your peace.

You are allowed to become someone your younger self would be proud of.

And you are allowed to believe that there is still goodness ahead.

Keep going, Mama.

The journey isn’t over.

There is still road ahead.
